Upcoming Duterte Interview by Kris Aquino Not the First Time

TV host Kris Aquino and sister of former president Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III announces her upcoming interview with the populist Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte.

Kris Aquino sets her TV comeback with this Duterte interview. She made the announcement in her Instagram account. She also mentioned that the interview will be aired by state media People's Television Network (PTV) and TV5 this November 11.

Whether Kris Aquino has a penchant for the president or not, it's hard to say. But to be fair to the "Queen of All Media," her interview with Duterte won't be the first time. Kris had already interviewed Duterte back in 2013 in Davao City where the latter was hailed as a mayor for 22 years. The interview was part of KrisTV Davao City Trip aired June 13 when Kris was still with ABS-CBN.

It is important to take note that the current President Rodrigo Roa Duterte has 16-million strong supporters. Most of these supporters are not fond of anything that is related to the former President Aquino. Kris interviewing the president will ruffle the feathers of some of avid Duterte supporters.

A lot of people didn't know this but Kris Aquino, as vocal as she was, had praised Duterte in the past. In fact, she was once asked a question if she had plans to run as a mayor. She answered maybe and added that she would like to work as an OJT to the then Davao City Mayor and now president Rodrigo Roa Duterte.

It was understandable that after knowing to have praised Duterte in the past, Kris Aquino had kept quiet the entire campaign period. After all she is still an Aquino. By twist of fate, the former Mayor became the political rival of the Aquinos and their political party, the Liberal Party. Much to their demise, the former mayor without much political backing and with limited financial resources defeated the standard bearer of the Liberal Party, Mar Roxas.

Netizens are vocal about their reaction and shared their opinions on social media regarding this interview. Some of the netizens' reactions reeked with distrust from both sides - Duterte supporters and the Aquino supporters. While some netizens found the interview interesting.
